No Saturday Sightings

Pops and I set out to the Tempe Town marsh this morning, hoping to see the Northern Parula and Eurasian Teal that were spotted there earlier in the week. It was a brief but nice morning, with tons of Cormorants, Phoebes, Ospreys, Flickers, and Song Sparrows enjoying the weather. Although Pops had a brief but good sighting, I did did not see the Parula, and we both struck out on the Eurasian Teal. There were lots of Shovelers, Gadwall, and a few Green-Winged Teal to be seen, and we'll definitely try back soon for the others.
I'm hoping to check the Glendale recharge ponds out on Monday and comes back with  few more pictures--the photography was slow today. In the mean time, happy birding to everyone this weekend!

The sticks in fron of the Yellow-Rumped Warbler are very distracting, but I like the picture because you can see all 3 of the yellow point son the bird (chin, flanks, and rump).

Here's a darker male:

There's a juvenile White-Crowned Sparrow somewhere in there...

  1. So, where is the Tempe Town Marsh? I know all about Tempe Town Lake as my office was right there next to it.

  2. It's a nice little spot just east of the McClintock exit off the Hwy 202, south side of the lake/canal. there's a paved walkway that's elevated and traces the lake, but if you're willing to go down the steep bank you can get some much better and closer views, and there is a path there as well.
