We had one spend the entire winter in Phoenix at a non-descript park that had literally 3 oak trees. He kept his nut stash in the nearby palm trees and chased away grackles all winter long.

I know such a good spot for Burrowing Owls (ok, a few). And right next door is Tres Rios, where you can have a 70 species day in just a couple of hours. It'll be off the hook birding for ya!Laurence Butlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14766876797454283812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791077723521794200.post-2221002250004742602013-11-17T19:25:17.848-07:002013-11-17T19:25:17.848-07:00Yeah, that Lewis's is one bizarre looking bird...Yeah, that Lewis's is one bizarre looking bird.

The trip is still a long four months away... I think I'm going to be overwhelmed with the numbers of life birds I pick up from your common species. I've decided my real target is the Burrowing Owl. Everything else will be a bonus, and I'll have to pick away at the Arizona birds in subsequent trips.Josh Wallestadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12547530391406974019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791077723521794200.post-82444094046641865242013-11-16T20:36:57.685-07:002013-11-16T20:36:57.685-07:00hehe Arizona beckons Josh.

Lewis's Woodpecker is one great and weird bird, much like its namesake patron explorer. I recently chased a woodpecker myself - I drove 6 hours to the Canadian border to see the fourth only Lewis's Woodpecker to visit our state.Josh Wallestadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12547530391406974019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791077723521794200.post-60035608226787470742013-11-15T13:39:18.494-07:002013-11-15T13:39:18.494-07:00Cheers Scott thanks for stopping by : )Cheers Scott thanks for stopping by : )Laurence Butlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14766876797454283812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791077723521794200.post-13546650544477670282013-11-15T10:44:15.817-07:002013-11-15T10:44:15.817-07:00Beautiful shots!
