I have been really happy with the Hawk sightings this year. Grays, Blacks, and Zonies have successfully raised lots of young ones. I was keeping an eye on 4 various nests this summer and we recently discovered another nest near Winkelman with a Black hawk parent and juvenile! Anyhow, I hope these riparian areas are left alone. They are absolute thrills during a birding expedition. I guess that you are up and running (or at least hobbling) after your knee and shoulder ops? I have had three knee ops myself (torn meniscus etc) even though I only have two knees. Too much football as a nipper, or too much birding in rough country perhaps? May the force be with you. The cuckoos are often hit or miss in this area, but the rewards there (especially at Mesquite Wash) can be outstanding because the trees aren't so tall and the cuckoos are likely to be lower. I don't have Cuckoo yet either this year.Tommy DeBardelebenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14927348437153499516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791077723521794200.post-29120780602791250142013-07-28T08:33:29.679-07:002013-07-28T08:33:29.679-07:00Wonderful photos LaurenceWonderful photos LaurenceDan Huberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04587246278289468905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791077723521794200.post-8174823609829488982013-07-27T22:27:26.851-07:002013-07-27T22:27:26.851-07:00Well there we go Jeff! I'll have to add that one to my list of must-bird places during my next trip to Phoenix. You saw some of my favorites and a would-be lifer with the Zonie. While you were driving the Old Beeline Hwy I was making my first drive across your Carefree Hwy(74) last Friday.
